The original band was attached to a piece of herringbone twill found in a woman’s grave in Kaupang, Norway. It was very tiny, only 9 mm wide! Most likely, it was woven with two wool threads and two plant fibers. The colors are not known.
My interpretation is with four wool threads – two light brown and two green. I added a bit of pink in the edges. I never work with this color, do not know how to incorporate it, so this is a little experiment. The idea for the colors is somewhat romantic. It reminds me of a trip my friends and I made to Lofoten in Norway a year ago. The sky above the Arctic isn’t just blue. There is a whole palette of blues, greens, pinks and yellows.
